Waterville-Elysian-Morristown High School Art Department Mission Statement
The Waterville-Elysian-Morristown High School Art Departments mission is to create a learning environment where a student can explore, create and develop the skills that attribute to the creation and the appreciation of visual art forms. The on going mission, of the Waterville-Elysian-Morristown High School Art Department , will be to have all art students be successful in meeting the high standards that are outlined in the Minnesota Visual Arts Standards.
Minnesota Visual Art Standards Grades 9-12
Analysis and Interpretation
Standard: The student will understand and apply artistic purpose to analyze, interpret and evaluate art works in at least one of the three arts areas offered by a school from the following: dance, media arts, music theater, and visual arts.
Creation and Performance
Standard: The student will understand and use artistic processes to create original or perform existing works of art in at least one of the three arts areas offered by a school from the following: dance, media arts, music, theater, and visual arts. As an elective, the student may understand and use artistic processes to create original or perform existing works of art in another art form or creative writing.
