Welcome to Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Public Schools, Morristown Building! Our building is located in Morristown, Minnesota and serves students in grades 5-8. We are unique in that the fifth and sixth grades are elementary classrooms, and comprise Morristown Elementary School. The seventh and eighth grades are a Junior High and comprise W-E-M Junior High School. To create unity within the building, and simplify who we are, we refer to ourselves as the W-E-M 5-8 building. Additionally, Early Childhood Education (ECFE) and Parent Education classes occur on our campus.

At the WEM 5-8 building, we practice BUCS PRIDE, providing a Respectful, Responsible, Positive, and Safe environment for all individuals in our learning community. Each day, we strive to provide students with a quality education and seek to inspire them to have a love of learning. We emphasize caring and kindness to others, and model that behavior as well.
Students in middle-level grades experience more developmental growth academically, socially, emotionally, and physically than at any other time in their lives. Our staff in the 5-8 building are sensitive to these needs and work to educate the whole child.
Teachers have high academic and behavioral expectations for students. Teachers ensure that students are learning Common Core and State Standards. This is done through the utilization of best practices, and by providing engaging instruction to involve students in their learning.
We are proud to offer student opportunities for experience in academics, the arts, physical education, and technology, as well as extra curricular experiences in athletics, speech, and drama for students in junior high school. Community Education offers opportunities for students in grades 5 and 6.
At WEM 5-8 we encourage and welcome parental involvement. You are your child's first teacher, and continue to play an intricate role in their growth and development; academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. We look forward to working with you and your student this year, and in the years to come. Should you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your child's teacher, our guidance counselor, Mrs. Roethler, or me at your convenience.
