FROM WEM

Thursday, March 12, 2020

Due to concerns about COVID-19, a.k.a. Coronavirus, the Minnesota State High School League has decided only a limited number of spectators will be permitted at the girls' state basketball games Friday and Saturday. Attendance will be limited to rostered athletes, coaches, event staff, TV partners, credentialed media, and a limited number of school-approved family members of the participants. In addition, consolation games for Friday and Saturday are canceled, so only teams who win will continue in the tournament.

The WEM fan buses for Friday and Saturday are canceled. Pep bands are not allowed, so the pep band bus is canceled.

WEM Activities Administrator, Jeff Boran will give preapproval to a limited number of fans to attend the remaining game(s). Those on the approved list will need a photo ID and can purchase a ticket after being screened at the arena.

All questions should be directed to Mr. Boran, but please be patient as he makes his way back to his office from today's game. He has forms to complete and will need time to talk to the coaches, players, and school administration before determining who will be approved to attend the game at noon on Friday at Williams Arena and, if applicable, Saturday at noon.

While this is unfortunate, you can still watch the Girls Basketball games live on TV on Channel 45 and via live stream from any device connected to the internet at https://www.45tv.com/prep45/. Thanks for your patience and understanding as we comply with the requirements of the MSHSL, and be assured they are following guidance from the Minnesota Department of Health, the Centers for Disease Control, and the State of Minnesota. Congratulations, and good luck tomorrow, Lady Bucs!
