Updated Outdoor Sports Mask Guidance
April 22, 2021
From WEM Activities Director, Jeff Boran

This morning at 10:00 a.m., the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) updated the masking mandate for youth sports. See the actual wording as communicated by the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) below. This begins immediately today.

updated outdoor sports mask/face covering guidance

While students actively participating in outdoor sports are no longer required to wear masks, they are required to wear a mask when not actively participating or when in a dugout, on a team bench, or in a team camp area and not able to maintain adequate social distancing. Therefore students will need to have a mask (or gaiter) readily available to use.

With that said, it was also mentioned that at no point since the start of the pandemic have more Minnesota students had positive test results for COVID-19. Please continue to model good citizenship for our students by wearing masks as directed.

I also remind you to continue to pre-register using the link below for all events you attend. Thank You.
