School Year SACC

Location: Waterville Elementary School

Scheduling Options: Full-Time and Part-Time

Mission Statement: The mission of WEM School Age Child Care is to nurture and educate children in a safe and positive environment that will promote social skills, physical development and intellectual growth through age-appropriate play, projects and activities in accordance to the “Minimum Standards for School-Age Care Programs,” fostering a solid foundation for lifelong success by focusing on the key areas of WEM's Bucs Pride: Respectful, Responsible, Safe, Positive and Kind.

Benefits of the program:

  • Create a sense of belonging
Being part of the SACC program is a way for children to connect with peers in a new setting. Kids who participate in programs outside of the school day are more likely to be included and feel like they’re part of a group. SACC promotes cooperation, support, and respect. This can help kids feel more secure about joining a game or starting a conversation. Staff members are able to encourage positive social skills.
  • Broaden learning opportunities
SACC offers a variety of enrichment experiences. It’s a fun and meaningful way for kids to work with other kids in areas they enjoy and expand their interest areas.
  • Provide academic support
As part of our after school program, we work on developing the skills, and providing the tools for students to best do their homework in a structured, supportive environment.
  • Safety and supervision
Risks are more likely for children when they are unsupervised before and after school. Keeping kids busy and providing quality supervision can keep them from engaging in risky behaviors.
  • Improve social skills

Spaces are limited and are given in the order completed registration forms are received.

What Parents Have to Say

SACC is a reliable, safe resource for both our kids and parents. Without SACC, parents may not be able to meet the expectations of their employers. We appreciate the support our district gives to the SACC program and its staff.
-Emilee

The friendships that are made have been great. My daughter has gotten to know kids of all ages. I believe it’s because Miss Jennifer is doing a variety of activities where they get to know one another. My daughter enjoys going to SACC and feels connected to the teachers since it’s obvious they care about their kiddos! Also, appreciate them following the Bucs Pride rules and behavior.
-Samantha

We love SACC! It is a great option for parents that work. Kids are able to do fun activities, go on field trips, and learn social and emotional skills to increase problem-solving skills as well as how to get along with others.

Leadership

Mrs. Jennifer Holicky has worked within the WEM district since 2013 and with SACC since 2016. In October of 2018, she took over as the interim coordinator while finishing her third term as a Reading Corps tutor. She accepted the full-time School Age Child Care Coordinator position in June of 2019.

Mrs. Holicky (known to the kids as Ms. Jennifer) says, “Our mission is to nurture and educate children in a safe and positive environment so they are prepared for school and for life. Children will develop positive social skills and values and learn about their world through age-appropriate play, projects, and activities. We provide a caring environment that fosters a solid foundation for lifelong success focusing on the four key areas of WEM’s Bucs Pride: Respectful, Responsible, Safe, and Positive.”

WEM School Age Child Care is a childcare program for students entering or currently enrolled in kindergarten through grade six. Children have the chance to make the most of their time out of school with opportunities to explore new interests, learn new skills, and develop new friendships while providing families with a flexible on-site childcare option. Children get to participate in a variety of activity areas such as arts, crafts, games, sports, 4H, field trips, STEM, and much more. SACC operates 12 months a year in the Waterville building. During the school year, SACC is open before and after school, scheduled late starts, scheduled early dismissals, and select non-school days.

Mrs. Holicky says, “As a mom of four, I completely understand the importance of quality childcare.” Her children are Blake, a 2017 WEM graduate; Brody, 8th grade; Auston, 7th grade; and Lilly, age 4. “One of my favorite things about being a parent and working with children is their never-ending sense of curiosity and how they give me a different perspective to look at the world in a whole different way.”
